A couple of years ago, my life flipped upside down. I was laid off—not once, but twice—in less than two years. Both times, it was because of company-wide layoffs in the tech industry. And let me tell you… it crushed me.​ I had done everything right. Graduated from college. Racked up certifications. Pushed through hundreds of nerve-wracking interviews just to land the “dream job.”

 

But instead of security, I got let go. Again. It felt like a gut punch, and I couldn't catch a break.​ For months, I spiraled. I cried, I prayed, I questioned everything. But somewhere deep inside, there was still a tiny flicker of faith, a whisper that said, You’re going to be okay. You were made for more.

How It All Started

I started journaling the hard days, the small wins, and everything I was learning in the midst of the mess. And slowly, Better Than Surviving was born.​ In 2023, I launched my blog to help friends, coworkers, and anyone reeling from a layoff rebuild their confidence, reclaim their power, and learn how to create a fulfilling life, regardless of the state of the economy.​

Better Than Surviving is a movement and a mission for everyday people who’ve been laid off, let go, or life-shocked by a recession and are ready to rebuild with strategy, confidence, and a clear financial vision. I started  Better Than Surviving not from a mountaintop, but from a moment, a low one. Like you, I’ve stared at my bank account with a knot in my stomach. Like you, I’ve wondered, “How do I bounce back when I don’t even know where to begin?” And like you, I knew deep down, there had to be more than just surviving.
